Acceptance: Why We Can Do Better Than The Body Positive Movement
What makes a woman real? What makes a body “positive”?
There’s a saying that “real women have curves”, but in my opinion, all bodies are real and all bodies are positive. When we try to elevate one type of body over another as more real or more positive, we are effectively shaming people who do not embody that type of body shape.
We are essentially saying that one type of body is “right” and the other type isn’t. Instead of saying everyone’s body is “fine”, we are saying that some women are “real” while other women are, what? Make believe?
My guest today is Kaila Prins, and we dive into a lively conversation about the body positive movement and how we can move beyond the focus of our bodies to something much bigger.
This episode will not only make you think, but it will also help you formulate your own deeper questions and opinions about the topic.
