Jennifer Hudson’s Weight Loss: How She Did It

We’ve followed Jennifer Hudson’s inspiring weight loss from the very beginning.  Now, the former size 16 star (now a size 6!) tells People Magazine that she is “so happy” to show off her newly toned body saying,

“I’m in the best shape of my life!”

Jennifer says she didn’t resort to any extreme measures to lose the weight and instead just made good choices.

“Whatever it takes to morph into the character, I’ll do it.  I wasn’t going to starve myself for anyone.”

She teamed up with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak in the fall and then signed to become the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers in January.  Since then, “she keeps getting tighter and thinner,” Pasternak tells PEOPLE. “It started off being about Winnie, and it ended up being a whole new JHud.”

As for her diet, Jennifer says,

“I don’t believe in short-cuts or drugs. If I can’t lose weight naturally, then no need for me to try at all.  I’ve done a lot of diets in the past.  I was restricting myself.”

Liz Josefsberg, Jennifer’s Weight Watchers counselor said,

“She was very afraid of carbs.  Jennifer fully understands that there are no off-limits indulgences as long as they are portion-controlled.”

Her workout is Pasternak’s five-day, 25-minute circuit training regimen.

The on thing that has remained the same throughout her stardom?  Her confidence.

“Confidence is everything. I just don’t let people impose their insecurities on me.  This is the way I want to be and the way I want to stay!”
