Ellen Pompeo Shares Her Energy Boosting Foods

Ellen Pompeo Shares Her Energy Boosting Foods

As we shared last week, Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is no stranger to healthy eating.  She’s also like many of us with a very demanding schedule and now a new baby to keep her busy.  So what’s her secret to having enough energy to sustain her hectic days?  Her diet!

In this month’s issue of Self Magazine, Ellen shares the energy boosting foods she enjoys.  They are:

1.  Bananas -  They’re a super source of filling fiber (one medium banana delivers 3 grams) as well as potassium—good for balancing your body’s sodium levels.

2. Garbanzo Beans – The combination of protein and fiber keeps you feeling full, so garbanzos are weight-control stars. And you get a sizable dose of two important B vitamins: B6 and folate.

3. Mangoes – Plentiful vitamin C (75 percent of your daily needs in 1 cup) keeps your immune system humming and may help fend off certain cancers.

4. Sardines – You get heart-helping omega-3 fatty acids, (which you probably knew) and calcium from the bones (which might be news!).

5. Eggs - For only 72 calories, they deliver 6 g protein and nutrients that may aid eye and brain health.

6. Almonds – They provide fiber, heart-healthy fats and vitamin E, potentially fending off heart disease.

Start by adding in one or two of these foods to your diet daily to help boost your energy and reap the other amazing health benefits!
