I’m impressed by every celebrity who uses their star status to further an important cause, but it looks like Justin Timberlake is about to take that devotion to new heights! The singer announced that he will scale Mount Kilimanjaro in the fall to raise awareness and support for clean water needs around the world.
Justin now is undergoing intensive training to expand his lung capacity, a measure that will hopefully prevent altitude sickness during the six-day trek. Rapper Lupe Fiasco and singer Kenna will join Timberlake on the climb.
“We’ll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 pounds on our backs. It’s going to be intense,” Timberlake told GQ magazine.
According to the UK Guardian, about ten people die each year while scaling the 19,000 foot Tanzanian mountain. But this trio seems driven to make the climb! We’ll stay tuned for more news on Justin’s cause and his adventure in the fall.
